The Maintenance Planner / Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and executing maintenance activities. This role ensures maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while maximizing equipment reliability and minimizing disruption to production operations. The position also provides direct leadership to maintenance personnel and contractors and plays a key role in annual turnarounds, preventive maintenance, and spare parts management.
What will you do?
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee maintenance work
- Review work requests and work orders for completeness, accuracy, and clarity.
- Develop detailed, high-quality executable maintenance plans using field conditions, technical data, trade knowledge, and operational input.
- Assemble fully planned work into formal job packages for execution by assigned teams.
- Coordinate equipment downtime with production to minimize interference with manufacturing schedules.
- Lead and coordinate annual maintenance turnarounds, ensuring activities remain within the approved budget.
- Report weekly on planning progress and communicate any issues affecting schedule completion.
- Develop and maintain task lists to ensure complete and accurate records consistent with company planning standards.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Provide leadership and direction regarding safety, quality, and productivity within the maintenance department.
- Supervise, provide technical support to hourly maintenance craft personnel and contract service providers.
- Lead the weekly Preventive Maintenance Day alongside the Maintenance Manager and Senior Maintenance Supervisor.
- Maintain high equipment availability and reliability in assigned process areas.
- Monitor maintenance costs and ensure adherence to budget targets.
- Ensure excellent housekeeping and organization in maintenance areas.
- Control and manage spare parts inventory through the SAP system in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and equipment prints.
- Identify and specify required materials and parts.
- Obtain quotations and coordinate ordering of maintenance components and supplies.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
What will it take?
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Journeyman-level maintenance trade certification preferred.
- 5–10 years of experience in an industrial processing or manufacturing plant.
- Working knowledge of SAP (preferred), Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing equipment and components.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures, preventive maintenance, and planning systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Experience supervising maintenance teams and contractors while managing a large and diverse workload.
