What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Fleet Mechanic position at Rainbow Companies?

Salary Range: $26-$31/hour
As a Mobile Fleet Mechanic for Rainbow Companies, you will join the team that maintains and repairs our wide variety of fleet vehicles and service equipment. This includes both preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel, gas-powered, and electric vehicles and equipment. You are able to perform accurate diagnosis of issues through visual inspection, use of diagnostic equipment, and calibration devices.
You have a technical certification or hands-on experience, a willingness to jump in, learn new skills, and help solve any technical issue. We provide on-the-job paid training and needed certifications. All shop tools and mobile tools are provided. This is a full-time weekday position with overtime available. We have three locations in the Twin Cities where vehicles and equipment are housed: Minnetonka, Little Canada, and Burnsville.
What You Will Do:
- Maintain and repair fleet, including cars, trucks, small engines, and other specialty equipment, as well as buildings and property.
- Perform periodic safety inspections of all fleet equipment.
- Determine required repairs using visual inspection, engine diagnostic equipment, and calibration devices.
- Perform occasional on-site field repair.
- Complete detailed work orders, maintenance records, and other required documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or a GED
- Technical degree or certification, or 2 years related work experience
- Valid driver’s license and a commitment to safe driving
- Obtain CDL within 6 months of hire
- Obtain DOT Inspector certification within 3 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-year technical degree or 4 years related work experience
- Class A driver’s license
- Welding and fabrication experience

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
May be required to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects; may be exposed to conditions including chemicals, the use of tools, and equipment. Safety precautions must be followed at all times, including the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and other safety equipment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds at any given time.
