Fitness & Recreation Educator Role at Rainbow Acres
Our Fitness & Recreation Educator plays a vital role in encouraging healthy, lifelong habits for our Residents/Ranchers through the creation of a robust fitness program. The educator fosters a safe and fun environment while designing classes and activities that drive the achievement of the Ranchers’ goals. This is more than a job — it’s a mission to serve with compassion, purpose, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support educational programming by collaborating with the education team to plan and deliver engaging classes in fitness and wellness.
- Facilitates activities involving the use of resistance bands, light weights, circuit training, etc.
- Leads activities involving nutrition and wellness, and mindfulness and reflection.
- Assists in implementing creative learning experiences that promote personal growth and social development.
- Provides support to Ranchers who participate in Special Olympics.
- Supervises Ranchers while attending fitness and/or wellness outings.
- This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring a high level of responsibility and awareness.
- High School diploma or GED with two years of experience leading recreation, fitness, or sports programs; or a four-year degree and/or certification in applicable area; or a combination of qualifications demonstrating aptitude in recreation, sports, fitness, or adult leisure activities.
- Experience working with adults with disabilities is preferred.
- Ability to meet all clearance requirements, including:
- Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Background check
- Pre-employment physical
- Drug screening
- Reference check
- Verification of absence from the Arizona Adult Protective Services Registry
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Demonstrate strong ethical standards and moral character, with sensitivity to the needs of our Residents/Ranchers.
- Evidence of a strong Christian commitment is desirable and aligns with the values of Rainbow Acres.
- Possess basic word processing, computer skills and use of standard exercise equipment.
- Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to navigate the terrain of the ranch safely and effectively.
