Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Assembler to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling components, hardware, seals and finished units of our watertight doors, hatches, scuttles and other specialty products. Your work will support our strong reputation for quality and help maintain production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Read work orders, blueprints or assembly instructions to understand required assemblies.
- Assemble mechanical components, frames, hardware, gaskets/seals, and finish assemblies according to specifications.
- Align, fit and secure parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and jigs.
- Inspect assemblies for proper fit, function, and finish — check for correct installation of seals, fasteners and moving parts.
- Report any anomalies or defects to manufacturing/quality team and assist in corrective actions.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe workspace in accordance with company safety standards.
- Document assembly operations, record parts used, report status of assemblies, and support inventory control.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., fabrication, finishing, quality) to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery.
Qualifications
- Recommended High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in assembly, manufacturing or mechanical work preferred; experience in metal fabrication a plus.
- Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to use hand tools, power screwdrivers, pneumatic tools and measuring tools.
- Ability to interpret simple drawings, instructions and part lists.
- Strong attention to detail with focus on quality and reliability.
- Good manual dexterity, visual inspection skills and ability to manage repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift and handle components (up to 70lbs), stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing shop environment.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, follow instructions, and communicate effectively.
- Willingness to learn, take direction and help improve processes.
