Railway Service Contractors is a growing company seeking a locomotive mechanics and assistants with a desire to achieve personal and professional growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repairs of locomotive mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to ensure conformance with FRA, company, and customer specifications. We are looking for people in the Kansas City, MO area.
Duties and Responsibilities: Perform required locomotive inspections, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to ensure that locomotive mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems conform to specifications and operate properly within design limits and intent. Complete inspection and repair reports according to company and FRA specifications and guidelines. Follow general safety rules and perform diagnostics. Install and repair locomotive components to ensure proper operation.
Legibly document items of non-compliance. Analyze and correct faults related to inspection, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and installation of locomotive equipment. Effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and customers in a timely, clear, concise, courteous and professional manner. Demonstrate an attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously. Comply with instructions furnished in written, oral and schedule form. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
Qualifications: Experience performing repairs and/or maintenance on locomotives. Ability to read with accuracy: Diesel engine manuals, locomotive schematics, service bulletins, maintenance instructions and other craft related documentation for a variety of locomotives. (Most of this information will be provided through an iPad device.) Ability to read and understand FRA and company rules, specifications and guidelines.Aptitude in mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and diesel engines and demonstrate a desire to learn. A valid State Driver’s License is required and a good driving record. Good driving record must be maintained throughout employment. Ability to use various testing equipment such as micrometer, dial indicator, gauges, insulation test devices, voltmeters, ohm meters. Ability to recognize the appropriate application and use of hand tools. Ability to use various power tools, including drills, grinders, and air impact wrenches. Ability to use cutting torches and various welding methods. Ability to read and comprehend published rules, procedure and manuals, inspection checklists, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, memos and other work-related information.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
