Job Summary
The Utility Construction Management Associate 2 ensures that third-party projects on, under, or above our clients’ properties adhere to approved plans and agreements. This role involves identifying and escalating potential non-compliance issues and building relationships with field personnel to maintain compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Observe utility installations across railroad property.
- Perform on-site observations of trenchless construction within railroad right-of-way, supporting third-party work around live railroad tracks.
- Document pre- and post-construction site conditions, verify materials and layouts, and maintain an active dialogue with on- and off-site personnel.
- Ensure documentation is in accordance with approved plans.
- Attend daily job briefings with railroad (flagger) and contractor teams to discuss project requirements.
- Participate in monthly training calls.
- Submit time and expenses accurately.
- Provide daily inspection reports using a tablet, detailing work progress and adherence to the railroad utility agreement.
- Escalate non-compliance issues to management/engineers for review.
- Travel 100% of the time.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet business needs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of AREMA standards.
- Understanding of general construction practices.
- Proficiency in electronic communications, including e-mail and text.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 5-7 years of railroad or utility experience.
- Experience with high-risk jobs (e.g., large diameter installations, shoring near track, non-traditional projects).
- Basic understanding of tablet operations.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to rent and operate rental cars through RailPros-approved vendors.
