What are the responsibilities and job description for the Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP) Vocational position at RAIL ENTERPRISES?
This position is for Rail Enterprises located at 1575 W. Lakeshore Dr, Wookstock, IL.
Position Summary:
The QIDP is responsible for coordinating and running day-to-day programs in the
workshop/vocational setting at Rail Enterprises. This position combines direct
program leadership with case management, ensuring that everyone is actively
working on their goals in a supportive, person-centered environment. The QIDP
works closely with each person’s Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) and assigned QIDP,
provides documentation and summaries of progress, supports behavior
management and de-escalation, and ensures compliance with all agencies, state,
and federal standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
- Plan, organize, and run daily workshop/vocational programs and activities.
- Engage individuals in meaningful work tasks, skill development, and social
opportunities.
- Provide hands-on support and instruction to individuals throughout the
program day.
- Develop and maintain client records and ensure all information is kept
current.
- Ensure sufficient materials are available for the general maintenance of the
building
- Ensure sufficient materials are available for the care of the clients in terms
of their personal and programming needs.
- To be thoroughly knowledgeable of all policies and procedures of Rail
Enterprise
- To be thoroughly knowledgeable of all Department of Human Services
regulations regarding DT programs (Rule 119).
- All other duties as assigned by the DT Director.
Case Management & Service Planning
- Work directly with the individual’s assigned QIDP at Sheltered Village to
ensure all programming supports service plan goals.
- Ensure individuals are actively working on their identified goals during
program activities.
- Track achievements and areas of need.
- Participate in IDT meetings and provide input on progress, concerns, and
program adjustments.
Behavior Support & De-escalation
- Monitor, document, and address behavioral concerns in a respectful and
proactive manner.
- Utilize approved de-escalation techniques to support individuals during
challenging situations.
- Collaborate with the IDT and behavioral specialists to implement and follow
behavior support plans.
- Train and guide staff on appropriate responses to behaviors, crisis
intervention, and positive behavior supports.
Staff Support & Oversight
- Train, guide, and support direct care staff on program implementation and
individual goals.
- Ensure staff understand and follow service plans, behavior supports, and
documentation requirements.
- Model positive teaching, support, and de-escalation strategies for staff.
- Supervise the program in absence of the DT Director
- All other duties as assigned by the DT Director.
Advocacy & Compliance
- Promote individual rights, dignity, and self-advocacy in all programming.
- Ensure documentation, summaries, and reports are accurate and
completed on time.
- Maintain program compliance with all regulatory and agency standards.
- Monitor program environment for safety, quality, and meaningful
engagement.
- Inform clients of their rights and ensure client rights are protected.
- Communicate issues related to the safety and well-being of clients to the
DT Director.
- Counselors’ clients individually or in small groups.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, Psychology, Social Work, Special
Education or related field (required).
- At least one (1) year experience working with individuals with
intellectual/developmental disabilities (required).
- Knowledge of vocational programming, person-centered planning, and
habilitation principles is a plus.
- Experience with behavior management, de-escalation, and positive
supports strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance direct program involvement with documentation and
team collaboration.
- Compassion, patience, and commitment to support individual
independence and success.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
- Active participation in daily programs, including assisting with mobility,
work tasks, or behavior supports.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to behavioral situations.
- Ability to move throughout the workshop and provide hands-on instruction.
