Grade 4 Teacher Dual Language Academy (English Side)

Position Overview: The Central Falls School District seeks to hire a talented, knowledgeable, and highly innovative certified educator to fill the ESL Teacher position, Grades 4-Dual Language Program (English side), at Raices Dual Language Academy for the 2026-2027 school year. Guided by the District’s Strategic Plan, we strive to prepare all students for success! GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES /DUTIES: 1. Teacher is part of a two-person team in a 50/50 model where students spend half of their time with their English-side teacher and other half with the Spanish-side teacher in content areas (language arts, math, science, social studies) and using all four language domains (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Teachers integrate cultural components to enhance the experience of children in learning about the American and Latino traditions, customs, and history. 2. Work and collaborate with a Dual Language teacher (Spanish side) to coordinate curriculum implementation; 50% Spanish and 50% English. 3. Collaborate with Dual Language Teachers to create appropriate lesson plans geared towards the implementation of the program within the 50/50 model. 4. An understanding and commitment that this position is part of a team process to ensure the quality of implementation of dual language education is optimum. 5. Capacity to implement a comprehensive early childhood curriculum and assessment system in alignment with the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDs.) integrating a Dual Language Model 6. Implements standards, assessment, curriculum, instruction, and cultural competency aligned with dual language theories and pedagogy. 7. Implements curriculum, teaching and learning standards and practices that are aligned with Common Core, and embedding strategies to support and engage dual language students. 8. Provides intervention support to help scaffold language and content domains to deliver rich, authentic instruction for all students. 9. Able to create language and content objectives by implementing a curriculum, teaching and learning standards, and practices that align with Common Core Standards and are embedded with WIDA Essentials. 10. Utilize instructional materials that coordinate with district curricula to implement dual language instruction that addresses students’ goals and language needs while providing access to grade-level content. 11. Incorporates ELLs backgrounds and experiences to improve performance by using a variety of techniques to ensure content concepts are comprehensible. 12. Incorporate a student's background in the lesson plan and understand how to linguistically make connections with prior native language development. 13. Ability to understand, analyze and evaluate student’s information from the native language, country of origin, and/or information/ document that may apply to students’ progress. 14. Maintain a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and personal well-being of all students. 15. Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for students, including language development adaptations for ELLs. 16. Assess progress, maintain documentation, monitor student learning/progress, and report as specified in student initial language and academic assessment and or district. 17. Communicate with families regularly to discuss student performance, attendance, progress, etc. via phone calls, emails, written correspondence 18. Empowers students to become self-motivated, responsible, and resilient learners. 19. Consistently demonstrates a belief that the individual is capable of learning and growth; learns from reflection and feedback and actively assesses own knowledge, skills, and talent deficits and makes a concerted effort to close academic gaps. 20. Other duties such as deemed necessary by the building and /or Director of Equity, Empowerment, and Excellence for English Learners.
