Reinicke Athens Inc (RAI) is a single-source steel fabricator and construction firm providing a full range of design, engineering, fabrication and erection services. AISC certified in both fabrication and erection along with our complete in-house capabilities, enables fast response, maximum flexibility and complete coordination of all phases of any project. Our state-of-the-art facility includes sophisticated robotic equipment, in-house detailing, blasting and painting, including finish coatings.
Position Summary
To inspect and ensure the quality of fabrication and welds performed by production staff. Certify that the final product is free of defects and conforms to AISC standards and contract documents. This is an excellent growth opportunity for an experienced Fitter who would like to move into quality. It will start in our Athens, GA structural shop for training and then move to a split schedule between our new stainless shop in Commerce, GA and shop in Anderson, SC.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Fitter of handrails and stairs
- Must also be able to read and interpret structural steel blueprints
- Knowledge of weld testing procedure methods
- Math skills with the ability to read and interpret measurements
- Knowledge of AWS D1.1 & D1.6 and AISC codes applicable to steel fabrication, is preferred
- Quality experience is a plus
- CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certificate is a plus
- NDT Ultrasonic Testing (UT) experience is a plus
- Ability to work a 6am-4:30pm schedule, Monday-Saturday in our Athens, GA, Commerce, GA and Anderson, SC shops
Essential Functions
- Perform dimensional and visual inspection of shop fabrication, which includes final paint inspections, weld preparations and final welds.
- Responsible for fabricated materials conforming to drawings, shop standards, specifications and applicable codes.
- Record and maintain in-process and final inspection records for quality assurance and production control.
- Identify and remedy drawing discrepancies with detailers.
- Coordinates with customers' inspectors during inspection phases.
- Communicates with shop foreman about defects on fabrication.
- Assists shop personnel with interpretation of drawings and specifications.
