Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of workers’ compensation defense experience and be capable of managing a growing caseload with minimal supervision. This position is perfect for an attorney with a desire to grow in a collaborative, fast-paced, and results-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of handling workers’ compensation defense cases in all stages of litigation, from inception through trial, and providing strategic legal advice to help mitigate risk and protect client interests. You will be empowered to take ownership of your cases while having the support you need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a full caseload of workers' compensation defense matters, including case analysis, strategy development, and resolution.
- Provide legal advice to clients on case strategy, settlement options, and risk management.
- Represent clients at depositions, hearings, and trials before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board (WCAB).
- Draft and file legal documents including motions, briefs, pleadings and settlement agreements.
- Negotiate settlements and favorable outcomes on behalf of clients.
- Negotiate and resolve liens.
- Keep clients informed on case developments, deadlines, and strategy adjustments.
- Stay current with California workers’ compensation laws, regulations, and trends.
- Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and timely updates on case progress.
- Collaborate with a team of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to provide effective legal representation.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the State Bar of California.
- 7 years of experience practicing workers’ compensation defense law.
- Strong knowledge of California workers’ compensation laws and WCAB procedures.
- Proven ability to handle a growing caseload and complex litigations matters.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and legal writing skills.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
