The Chadwick Center for Children and Families at Rady Children's Health in San Diego, is one of the largest hospital-based Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC) and trauma treatment centers in the nation. We provide family-focused and trauma-informed services to children and adolescents who may have experienced or witnessed maltreatment, abuse or violence.
Central to Chadwick CAC services, the Forensic & Supportive Services program (FSS) provides forensic interviews and medical exams as part of child abuse and other criminal investigations, advocacy to families, and short-term family intervention to reduce the likelihood that children will develop PTSD. FSS is a part of the San Diego Child Protection Team (CPT), and works closely with the District Attorney’s Office, Child Welfare Services, law enforcement, and other partners, in order to help keep children safe and healthy.
The Family Advocate (Child & Family Specialist I/II) will provide advocacy support to link families with services, educate and help families access victims’ rights and crime victims’ compensation programs, and support families in accessing services and addressing barriers. The Family Advocate will also provide crisis and risk assessments, safety planning and support; assesses individual/family needs and cultural considerations, coordinates with other community partners, and provides active and consistent outreach and follow up support.

Job Summary
Responsible for screening potential clients for program/admission eligibility. When needed gathers information for initial intake, including determining the appropriate funding source, & helping clients access funding. Provides outreach to community partners, assists child and family specialists and the clinical team in developing and maintaining a data base of community resources in the region.
Carries a caseload of clients per department standards. Provides crisis intervention, case management, rehabilitation and other services to clients and families. Conducts screenings and needs assessments then develops service plans for clients. Attends team meetings to ensure collaboration and communication regarding case management efforts are incorporated into thetreatment plan and ongoing care coordination for the trajectory of care for the client and family.
Provides education, advocacy, and mentoring. Assists clients with the goal of maintaining safety & stability through the provision of reviewing safety planning & risk assessment; accessing financial, medical & other resources; planning for long-term goals & coordination with other internal and external providers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
1 Year of Experience providing advocacy and/or case management services
CA Driver's License
Proof of Auto Insurance
CA drivers license (outpatient care areas)
Have own vehicle with proof of insurance (outpatient care areas)
Safe driving record (outpatient care areas)
Preferred Qualifications
2 Years of Experience
Knowledge of regional community services
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred But Not Required.
The current salary range for this position is $28.09 to $38.62
