Assistant Director of Infrastructure Technology
Central Office
Job Goal:
The Assistant Director of Infrastructure Technology is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic planning, design, engineering, maintenance, and security of the organization's enterprise-level technology infrastructure. This includes cyber security, network, server, storage, virtualization, and multi-cloud environments (Azure/AWS). The role is critical in driving technical strategy, ensuring system reliability, security, and scalability to support instructional goals, business operations, and student data management. This position provides direct supervision and mentorship to technical staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of five (5) years of related job experience, with at least two years in a senior role involving infrastructure design, architecture, and team supervision.
- Expert knowledge of Enterprise Network Architecture (Routing/Switching, Advanced TCP/IP), Windows Server, and Active Directory administration.
- Proven ability to design and manage complex VMware and SAN environments.
- Demonstrated experience in Cloud Architecture and Operations (Azure and/or AWS).
- Certifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Solutions Architect Expert, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- CompTIA Security or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead and mentor a technical team.
- Minimum of five (5) years of related job experience, with at least two years in a senior role involving infrastructure design, architecture, and team supervision.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Architect and design scalable, reliable, and secure enterprise network and server infrastructure, including on-premises and multi-cloud solutions (Azure/AWS), ensuring systems align with long-term organizational goals.
- Lead network design, planning, and implementation for all LAN/WAN/Wireless infrastructure, managing changes, configuration, and troubleshooting for optimal performance and capacity.
- Develop and implement systems and applications integrations for interoperability as well as task automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible) to streamline deployment, configuration, and recovery processes.
- Develop procedures to measure and forecast system capacity for all network devices and hosted applications, providing strategic recommendations for future scalability and upgrades.
- Configure and manage all storage area network (SAN) systems, providing strategic solutions for backup, restoration, and site replication to ensure high availability and data integrity.
- Oversee and perform system administration tasks including storage, server build and deployment, backup and disaster recovery, and management of VMware virtualization environments.
- Administer and maintain core directory and messaging services, specifically Active Directory, Exchange, email security, and Microsoft 365.
- Utilize enterprise tools for centralized system management, patch deployment, and software distribution.
- Manage printing solutions, including Print Servers, and maintain database systems, including SQL.
- Design and implement robust security measures according to STIG and CIS standards, including the management of firewall, security server and endpoint configuration, and antivirus/anti-malware solutions.
- Implement and actively monitor tools for information security, covering prevention, detection, analysis, and response to security threats using advanced tools and analytics.
- Configure, support, and maintain network access control solutions (NAC) and perform advanced VLAN management to ensure proper network segmentation.
- Provide direct supervision, mentorship, training, and performance management for all building and district-level technology staff and system administrators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Lead and manage all major IT projects, delegating tasks and providing expert technical guidance to ensure objectives are met on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Assist the Director of Technology Innovation & Instructional Design in formulating and implementing strategic architectural standards, operating procedures, and technology policies, procedures, and standards.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual department budget, vendor management, and eRate reporting.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to work after hours as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technology Innovation & Instructional Design.
