LTS K-5 STEELS (STEM/Science) Teacher

Radnor Township School District (RTSD) is in search of dynamic teachers with a passion for STEM, science, and computer science instruction. This special is known as Innovation Design Studio (IDS), a phenomena and project-based class that is aligned with the STEELS PA Science Standards as well as PA Computer Science Standards, and ISTE Standards. This program includes time for classroom/schoolwide integration of science-content, technology-enhanced STEM, computer science, and design-thinking practices.
RTSD Elementary buildings operate on a 6-day cycle that will include two IDS Specials per rotation for all K-5 students.
Position Summary:
- Instruct and inspire all students in grades 3–5 through engaging, phenomena-based experiences aligned to the Pennsylvania STEELS Standards, including Life Science, Physical Science, Earth and Space Science, Environmental Literacy and Sustainability, and Technology and Engineering.
- Design and facilitate learning experiences that foster curiosity, critical thinking, scientific investigation, problem-solving, and the engineering design process.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff to integrate STEM and computer science concepts and practices across content areas, helping students make meaningful connections between science, technology, literacy, mathematics, social studies, the arts, and real-world applications.
- Partner with teachers to authentically embed STEM, computational thinking, and computer science practices across instructional settings when appropriate.
- Foster a joyful, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment that encourages exploration, discovery, creativity, and a growth mindset in every child.
- Serve as a positive and proactive member of the school community, building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while contributing to a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- Demonstrate flexibility, initiative, and commitment to continuous learning while seeking opportunities to enhance STEM programming and student experiences throughout the school community.
Qualifications:
- Active PA Certification-Elementary (K-6), required
- PA STEM Endorsement and/or PA Instructional Technologies Specialist, preferred
- STEM and Computer Science experience, preferred
