The CT Technologist Trainee is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are actively pursuing a career in Computed Tomography. Under direct supervision, the trainee participates in patient care activities and assists with CT technical procedures. The individual in this role must successfully complete all required training and obtain ARRT (CT) certification and/or State licensure (as applicable by state regulations) within the designated timeframe in order to transition into a CT Technologist position.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
This position often requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, handling or palpating, speaking, and listening. Must be able to lift over 50 pounds occasionally. Assists and participates as part of the lift team for patient transfers.
Working Environment
Work is performed in an outpatient medical office setting with low to moderate noise levels.

- This position does not meet the criteria for exemption from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act; thus you will be eligible to receive overtime compensation, as appropriate. Overtime requires prior approval from your supervisor.
The CT Technologist Trainee is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are actively pursuing a career in Computed Tomography. Under direct supervision, the trainee participates in patient care activities and assists with CT technical procedures. The individual in this role must successfully complete all required training and obtain ARRT (CT) certification and/or State licensure (as applicable by state regulations) within the designated timeframe in order to transition into a CT Technologist position.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assists with preparing patients for CT exams and explains procedures in a courteous and professional manner.
- Learns proper positioning techniques, immobilization methods, and safety procedures for CT imaging under supervision.
- Observes and assists with administering contrast media (only after obtaining venipuncture certification and under direct supervision, if applicable).
- Supports technologists with image processing, PACS transmission, and quality assurance checks.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
- Participates in educational activities, in-service training, and on-the-job instruction to gain competency in CT imaging.
- Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and prepared for patient procedures.
- Provides professional and compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process.
- Completes administrative tasks, paperwork, and data entry as assigned.
- Performs other related duties as assigned while learning the full scope of the CT Technologist role.
- Must have current ARRT(R) and State License in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology (CRT).
- Must obtain ARRT (CT) certification and/or applicable State CT license within the timeframe required by RadNet policy or state regulations. Continued employment in the trainee role is contingent upon meeting this requirement.
- Completion of an accredited Radiology program required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Venipuncture certification preferred; if not held, must obtain within required timeframe.
- Ability to learn and apply specialized CT equipment operation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to relate to patients, physicians, and team members.
- Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to professional development.
- Participates fully in RadNet training, policies, and protocols.
- Practices universal safety and radiation protection precautions.
- Demonstrates commitment to professional growth through coursework, continuing education, and licensure preparation.
- Provides excellent patient service and upholds RadNet’s values and compliance standards.
