Front-End Engineer – Real-Time Trading Systems
New York • Hybrid • $135,000 – $165,000 base
We’re hiring a Front-End Engineer to join a front-office technology team building real-time applications used directly by traders in a major global markets environment. This role focuses on modernising a large-scale electronic trading platform and developing new high-performance tools that support rates and credit workflows. You’ll work closely with traders, quants and backend engineers to deliver fast, maintainable and scalable applications that sit at the heart of day-to-day trading activity.
What you’ll work on
- Building modern React/TypeScript interfaces for real-time trading and pricing workflows
- Contributing to end-to-end design, collaborating with backend engineers on APIs and data flows
- Delivering performant, reliable features that directly improve trading efficiency
- Participating in a programme of platform modernisation covering event-driven systems and microservices
- Working in a hybrid NYC-based setup with regular business stakeholder interaction
What you’ll bring
- Knowledge Java engineering skills (OOP, collections, concurrency fundamentals)
- Exposure to distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture
- Experience building or consuming RESTful APIs; SQL fundamentals
- Familiarity with containerised deployment (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Strong experience of modern UI development — React/TypeScript experience is a plus
- Strong engineering discipline across testing, code quality and SDLC best practices
