A leading global market maker, powered by technology, rigorous research, and deep collaboration, is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join its Global Data Engineering team in Chicago.
Operational:
- Serve as a frontline data operations contact for traders, researchers, and internal stakeholders.
- Investigate and resolve data quality issues and freshness anomalies across critical datasets.
- Monitor ingestion pipelines, scheduled processes, and real-time feeds, triaging alerts to minimise trading impact.
Engineering & Platform Reliability:
- Ingest and operationalise new datasets, including schema mapping, normalization, historical backfill, and metadata management.
- Build and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines supporting real-time trading and research systems.
- Implement data quality checks, anomaly detection, and monitoring frameworks.
- Develop high-performance APIs exposing market and reference data.
- Partner with traders, researchers, and engineers to design scalable, reliable data solutions.
The Ideal Candidate
- 3 years’ experience as a Data Engineer, SRE, Software Engineer, or in Data Operations within a high-performance environment.
- Strong Python skills, including experience with Pandas, Arrow, and Spark.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, normalization, and API development at scale.
- Experience with lakehouse architectures (e.g., Delta Lake, Databricks, AWS) preferred.
- Exposure to real-time and historical market data (fixed income/credit, ETFs, equities) is advantageous.
Salary : $300,000 - $600,000
