Raw Material Supervisor

General Position Summary:

Manages the scrap program for the melt shop department, including audits, staff training, procedure development, safety, scheduling, and maintenance of documentation in SCMS. Performs the duties of the Raw Materials Manager in his/her absence.

Essential Functions:

• Continually: Manages the scrap program for the melt shop department, including audits, staff training, procedure development, and maintenance of documentation in SCMS.
• Continually: Maintains the department safety function; ensuring that safety meetings are held, standards are maintained, accidents are investigated and reported in applicable software programs.
• Continually: Oversees the scheduling for and staff coverage of the Melt Shop Feed department.
• Frequently: Assists with other assignments as assigned by the Raw Materials Manager and Melt Shop superintendent.
• Occasionally: Performs the duties of the Raw Materials Manager in his/her absence.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• Supervises multiple employees

Job Conditions:

• Work is typically performed in a variety of environments including indoors, outdoors or in an industrial manufacturing setting. It may require the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds, and/or to lift/carry up to 20 pounds. Will be required to clean up hydraulic spills properly and input into Intelex.
• A worker in this position will often be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as snow, rain, heat and/or plant conditions such as dust/dirt, noise and temperature extremes while performing job duties. PPE is required and will be provided to you by the company.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:

• Climbing: Frequently. Ascending or descending stairs, trucks and rail cars on a daily basis.
• Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Frequently. To pick up parts or equipment.
• Standing/Walking: Continually. Within the manufacturing plant as well as outdoors.
• Reaching: Frequently. To retrieve supplies, parts and equipment.
• Pushing/Pulling/Lifting: Continually. To move items within the manufacturing plant or outdoors. Lifting devices are used for items weighing over 50 pounds.
• Grasping: Continually. To gather supplies or to compile and assemble paperwork.
• Repetitive Motions of the hands/wrists/fingers: Frequently. To enter or retrieve data from the computer or to use tools, supplies and equipment in manufacturing.
• Sitting: As needed for data input and analysis of chemistry of melted scrap.
• Talking: Person/By Telephone or Two Way Radio in loud Mill environment.
• Hearing: Ability to detect equipment malfunction or irregularities in tools or machinery.
• Vision: Ability to read either paperwork or information on a computer monitor.
• Smell: Ability to detect irregularities or hazards such as gas, fire, smoke or fumes.
• Touch: Ability to use tools, equipment, parts and materials to perform the duties of the job.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in an industrial manufacturing environment or 2 years of relevant experience with scrap metal operations.
• Ability to work long hours including off shifts and weekends.
