Are you an experienced metals recycling professional with strong knowledge of non-ferrous materials and a passion for operational leadership? We're seeking an Operations Supervisor - Metals Recycling to help lead daily operations in a fast-paced recycling environment.

You'll oversee receiving, processing, inventory management, shipping, equipment coordination, and employee performance while helping drive continuous improvement across the operation.
What You'll Do
Safety & Environmental Leadership
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Develop and implement Health & Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure employees receive timely safety and operational training.
- Maintain training records and compliance documentation.
- Participate in Safety Committee activities and safety initiatives.
- Monitor safety performance and implement programs to reduce workplace incidents.
Operations Management
- Direct and coordinate daily non-ferrous receiving, processing, and shipping activities.
- Schedule personnel and equipment to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Develop and maintain workflow plans, storage layouts, and processing areas.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance quality, safety, and profitability.
- Collaborate with operational leadership to implement best practices.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Inspect equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Coordinate maintenance requests and work orders as needed.
- Assist with purchasing and operational supplies to support facility performance.
Inventory, Quality & Logistics
- Evaluate incoming non-ferrous materials for quality and inventory accuracy.
- Maintain inventory control of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
- Train employees on material testing and grading procedures.
- Ensure products meet customer specifications and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate material pricing, grading, shipment preparation, and transportation activities.
- Monitor truck movements, pickups, transfers, and outbound shipping documentation.
- Support dispatch and fleet scheduling activities.
Budgeting & Business Support
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reporting.
- Conduct monthly physical inventory audits.
- Partner with commercial teams to help manage inventory levels and sales strategies.
- Support purchasing strategies that align with production and transportation capacity.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support hourly and salaried employees.
- Conduct performance evaluations and coaching conversations.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring efforts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and employment practices.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performing work environment.
Qualifications Required
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the metal recycling industry.
- Strong knowledge of non-ferrous metals grading and processing.
- Previous operational, supervisory, or leadership experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience managing inventory and production reporting.
- Knowledge of shipping, logistics, and transportation operations.
- Experience with process improvement initiatives and workforce development.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments year-round.
- Frequent walking, climbing, and navigating industrial work areas.
- Ability to safely work around heavy equipment and recycling operations.
