Radius Aerospace– Hot Springs is a leading manufacturer of sheet metal parts and assemblies used in the aviation industry. We utilize a wide range of metal forming techniques and special manufacturing processes, servicing the commercial, military, regional jet, helicopter, and general aviation markets.
Position Summary
The department manager will work in conjunction with the facilities director to implement company strategies, tactical plans, and key department functions. This will include, but is not limited to, scheduling, guiding, and directing the team members on a daily/weekly basis; motivating and inspiring the team for optimum performance in ways that comply with the company's plans and vision; setting performance goals and performing reviews of employee actions; train new hires; manage production schedules; and resolving disputes between employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.
- Know, understand, and follow department policies and procedures.
- Lead by example, demonstrate strong workmanship practices with a focus on employee SAFETY.
- Provide “simple” reminders to team members of company policies, procedures and proper code of conduct.
- Become licensed and certified on the forklift and or man lift operation (if required).
- Monitor and mentor your team members training requirements and certifications.
- Participate in the interview process and facilitate our 30/60/90-day training program of all new team members.
- Communicate and cooperate with other Team Leads in order to help facilitate process improvement ideas.
- Promote and assign cross training opportunities for all team members assigned to your team(s).
- Assign team members to daily tasks and assign responsibilities to meet daily production goals.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of your work center(s) in order to meet daily production goals / priorities.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized 6s working environment within your areas of responsibilities.
- Assist in maintaining work center(s) equipment calibrations, inventories, material resources and shop supplies.
- Provide input of your team members for performance reviews, evaluations and or re-training requirements.
- Report to work on time, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.
- Other various duties as needed or as assigned.
- Work 10 hour schedule five nights/days per week, with additional time as required.
Education & Skills Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 years leadership experience preferred.
- 10 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.
- Experience in Six Sigma and LEAN manufacturing practices preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for effective listening for giving feedback to employees.
- Good conflict resolution skills to create a supportive and motivating work environment.
- Outstanding time and priority management to manage workloads and time constraints.
- Ability to problem solve and make the best decisions based on information at hand.
