Overview
We are seeking a versatile, hands-on LA2 Technician to join our in-house Audio-Visual team within a hotel and hospitality environment. This role is designed for a cross-trained technician who supports both audio and lighting operations across a wide range of live events.
In our department, full-time technicians (LA2s) are trained to function as both Audio 2 (A2) and Lighting 2 (L2), working closely with department leadership. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and learning multiple disciplines in live production.
What You’ll Be Doing
Audio Support
Assist with the setup, testing, operation, and tear down of audio systems for rehearsals and live events
Work with microphones (wired and wireless), lavaliers, speakers, consoles, and signal flow
Support RF coordination, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting
Ensure audio systems function properly before, during, and after events
Lighting Support
Assist with the setup, focus, testing, operation, and tear down of lighting systems
Work with LED fixtures, conventional fixtures, dimmers, and lighting control systems
Support basic programming, cue execution, and troubleshooting
Ensure lighting systems are show-ready and safely deployed
General & Event Technology Responsibilities
Install, operate, and strike AV equipment for meetings, conferences, concerts, and special events
Support both built-in AV systems and portable production setups (indoor, outdoor, and pop-up events)
Work directly with guests to integrate and troubleshoot guest-provided equipment (laptops, media, adapters, etc.)
Assist with video, projection, monitors, recording equipment, and power distribution as needed
Read and execute event requirements based on Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
Maintain organization, cleanliness, and readiness of equipment and work spaces
Follow all safety protocols and best practices
Collaborate closely with team members and other departments to ensure seamless events
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
What You Need for this Position
1–3 years of experience in live event production, AV, or technical support preferred
Foundational knowledge of:
Audio mixing and sound reinforcement
Lighting systems and basic lighting concepts
Familiarity with any of the following is a plus:
DMX and lighting control software
RF microphone systems
Low voltage cabling
Integrated AV systems (Crestron, QSC, or similar
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Calm, solution-oriented mindset in live-event environments
Clear communication skills and ability to work as part of a small, collaborative team
Self-starter who can anticipate guest and event needs
Professional appearance and guest-facing demeanor
Part-time, event-based scheduling
Availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs occasionally
