Job Description:
· We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented UAS Mapping Technician to support drone-based surveying and geospatial analytics for large-scale civil infrastructure projects. This individual will lead flight operations and produce high-quality photogrammetry, mapping, and volumetric deliverables for a huge reservoir project and future geospatial engagements.
· This position is ideal for someone experienced in both field operations (drone piloting) and post-processing using industry-standard geospatial tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Flight Operations (UAS Field Work)
Plan and execute drone missions for photogrammetry-based mappingOperate Wingtra (Gen II or Ray) and/or multirotor platformsEnsure safe operation under FAA Part 107 guidelinesMaintain visual line of sight (VLOS) at all timesConduct site assessments and identify flight hazardsCoordinate flight windows with construction teams and site managementMaintain UAV logs, batteries, and equipment readinessPhotogrammetry & Data Processing
Process aerial imagery using WingtraHub, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape, or similarGenerate:OrthomosaicsDSM/DTM terrain modelsPoint cloudsContour filesPerform QA/QC checks, including:RMSE analysisGround control point verification (GCP or PPK-based)Produce volumetric calculations for:Cut/fillStockpilesEarthwork quantitiesGeospatial Deliverables:
Prepare and export data into formats used by surveyors and engineers (GeoTIFF, LAS, SHP, DWG, DXF)Assemble periodic progress reports for construction oversightAssist with integration of datasets into client Hub dashboardsMaintain organized archives of flight data and processed outputsCommunication & Coordination:
Work closely with project managers, survey teams, and USACE stakeholdersProvide clear documentation of workflows, processing steps, and metadataAttend occasional field coordination and planning meetingsQualifications:
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate1 years of drone mapping experience (photogrammetry)Proficiency with mapping software (Pix4D, Metashape, WingtraHub, DJI Terra, etc.)Understanding of GIS concepts (coordinate systems, spatial accuracy, metadata)Ability to work independently in field conditionsValid driver's licensePreferred:
Experience with WingtraOne Gen II or Wingtra RayExperience on construction or civil infrastructure sitesFamiliarity with volumetric workflows (TBC, Propeller, Civil 3D)Basic GIS/CAD skills (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D)Ability to support USACE geospatial deliverable requirements
