Communications Technician (Entry Level or Experienced)

Position: Communications Technician (Entry Level or Experienced)

What You'll Do

RCM technicians work with a wide range of communications and technology systems, including:

• Two-way radio systems
• Public safety communications equipment
• Vehicle communications installations
• Microwave and IP-connected networks
• Dispatch consoles
• Emergency vehicle equipment
• GPS and fleet tracking systems
• Fire station alerting systems
• Wireless and cellular communication technologies

A typical day may include:

• Installing communications equipment in vehicles
• Programming and configuring radio systems
• Troubleshooting customer equipment
• Assisting with network and infrastructure installations
• Supporting police, fire, EMS, public works, and commercial customers
• Learning new technologies through hands-on training

No prior radio experience is required. We provide training for motivated individuals who are eager to learn and grow.

Schedule

Monday–Friday
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
30-minute lunch break

Compensation

Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

$18–$22 per hour (entry level)
Higher compensation may be available for experienced candidates.

A company vehicle is provided once technicians are able to work independently in the field.

Qualifications

Required:

• Clean driving record
• Clean criminal record
• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Ability to work professionally with customers and coworkers
• Ability to problem solve independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work outdoors when necessary (hot and cold)
• Ability to read and write in English

Preferred:

• Basic understanding of vehicle electrical systems (12V)
• Basic computer skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office
• Basic understanding of networking and IP-based systems
• Electronics, automotive, IT, military communications, amateur radio, or related experience
