What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Services and Billing Specialist position at Radiation Oncology Associates?
Do you thrive on keeping things organized, love connecting with patients, and know your way around a medical office like a pro? If you're the kind of person who gets satisfaction from making someone’s day smoother while juggling phones, schedules, and insurance claims — we’d love to hear from you.
We’re Radiation Oncology Associates, a proud independently owned radiation oncology practice in beautiful Angola, Indiana. We’re looking for a friendly, sharp, and detail-oriented Patient Services and Billing Specialist to be the heartbeat of our front office and a critical bridge between patients and our care teams.
What You'll Do:
- Be the welcoming face (and voice!) for our patients, scheduling appointments and answering questions with compassion and clarity.
- Handle patient registration and ensure insurance info is accurate in our EMR and billing systems.
- Support billing processes like charge prep, prior authorizations, and insurance verifications.
- Help patients navigate their financial obligations — including setting up payment plans.
- Keep the clinic running smoothly by assisting with patient flow, documentation, and communication between teams.
You’ll Be Great At This Job If You:
- Are a natural people person with strong communication and multitasking skills.
- Have at least 1–2 years’ experience in an administrative, healthcare, or billing-focused role.
- Know (or are excited to learn) medical terminology, insurance basics, and EMR systems.
- Love being the calm in a busy day and the helper who makes things work behind the scenes.
- Can keep track of details, juggle priorities, and take initiative with minimal supervision.
Bonus Points If You:
- Have experience with Electronic Medical Records and billing systems (like Epic, Intergy, or ARIA).
- Know your ICD-10 from your CPT codes.
- Have taken a medical terminology course.
Why Work With Us?
We're not just another clinic — we're a close-knit team of professionals who care deeply about our patients and each other. We value collaboration, clear communication, and a sense of humor. You’ll have room to grow, contribute meaningfully, and work alongside clinicians who are leaders in the field.
We also provide competitive pay, a suite of comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(K) and generous PTO.
