The Youth Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team is a specialized program designed to provide comprehensive, community-based mental health services to adolescents and young adults aged 14-20 who are living with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders and reside in the metro area. The program aims to support youth in achieving their personal recovery goals, enhancing their quality of life, and fostering independence.

The expected salary range for this position is based on several factors including market, funding, candidates experience level, skills, schedule, training, and related knowledge. Our ranges are developed and published as good faith estimates for the position.

Starting Salary Range: $81,765 - $86,558 for fully licensed individuals, Clinical Trainees starting at $77,506

Office benefit package (covers parking/remote expenses): $180/month subject to change

The Mental Health Therapist will provide professional, quality program services to the clients served by the Youth ACT team. The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for offering individualized clinical support, including diagnostic assessments, planning, therapy (e.g., CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing), and advocacy, while closely collaborating with multidisciplinary team members and linking clients to essential supports such as housing, healthcare, employment, and education. This position will provide coordination and monitor assessments, treatment planning, and follow-up for clients. The Therapist will serve as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of residents' rights and benefits. They will model clinical best practices and interventions in the delivery of care.

Duties:
  • Provide ACT services for clients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team consisting of Psychiatrist, ACT Manager, Mental Health Practitioner, Certified Peer Specialist, Nurses, Vocational Specialist, Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist, and Team Coordinator.  
  • Provide Individual Therapy as assigned.
  • Provide Co-Occurring Disorder interventions and assessments.
  • Be a member of individual treatment team of Youth with co-occurring disorders.
  • Crisis assessment and intervention to minimize risk of harm to self or others
  • Proactively assess and respond to increasing symptoms and associated treatment needs
  • Work with the team to provide ACT services for clients, assume primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals and plans in collaboration with the client and the treatment team.
  • Assist in the development of comprehensive assessments, individualized treatment plans, substance abuse treatment, and other tools necessary to assist clients in the community.
  • Provide clinical supervision as assigned
  • Assist clients with all aspects of psychiatric rehabilitation and all aspects of obtaining and maintaining housing. 
  • Will assist and /or teach clients independent living skills such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, personal hygiene, transportation, and budgeting.   Will assist clients with making and keeping appointments and any other tasks that are required through the client’s recovery process.
  • Work with the vocational counselor to encourage formal education and/or competitive employment and assist in fostering positive work skills for clients.
  • Attend commitment and other court hearings as required.  Complete required court reports.
  • File reports with Vulnerable Adult, Child Protection, the Ombudsman’s Office, and other mandated/required reports when applicable. 
  • Assessing, planning and treating substance use for assigned clients both individually and in groups.
  • Actively and assertively engage and reach out to clients’ family members/significant others, including landlords and employers after obtaining client permission.
  • Provide on-call crisis consultation to staff
  • Available for weekend and holiday duties on a rotating schedule.
  • Attend and participate in all scheduled team meetings.
  • Must transport clients in the community.
  • Complete all paperwork, reports, and charting within expected timelines and in an organized manner.
  • Submit expenses and mileage in approved platforms on a timely basis
  • Participate actively in on-going professional growth and development; maintain appropriate professional behavior and participate in appropriate supervision.
  • Maintain a pattern of regular work hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  •  
  • Master's Degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field.
  • Qualified as a Mental Health Professional, maintaining an LICSW, LP, LPCC, or LMFT license or as a Clinical Trainee
  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
