Position Summary:
Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Electronic and/or Electrical Product Design and Engineering.
This role will be Hybrid -minimum of 3 days on site Mon/Thurs in office – Normal Office Hours of 8-5 PM EST.
The ideal candidate will be expected to provide engineering level support on assigned and unassigned projects over the life cycle of new and legacy products.
The team is kicking off 3 PCB Design projects and this professional will help lead 1 or more of the projects.
They will also be responsible for mentoring/coaching junior electrical engineers.
8-10 Years experience is needed to be successful in this position.
You will want to have a strong Electrical Engineer background to provide troubleshooting, testing and EE support as you are working in the R&D department.
A strong Analog or Digital background in EE will support this role nicely.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Work within a global collaborative R&D team to create and improve printed circuit board designs using Cadence design systems (Allegro). (Other design systems are considered for this role.)
Release projects to manufacturing by creating schematic design capture, new part numbers, detailed descriptions, and printed board assemblies (BOM structures) for new and legacy products or projects.
Work within the Windchill PDM application tool to store fabrication documentation, schematics, gerber files etc.
Resolve differences between design and fabrication requirements by making determinations such as modifying designs versus sending parts back to vendors .
Attend regular team meetings, including engineering change order meetings in support of manufacturing & quality assurance analysis and correction of manufacturing defects.
Work collaboratively with other engineering resources, project management, purchasing etc. and assist in applying core engineering concepts to solve complex, unfamiliar, and novel problems.
Expected to work with minimal assistance, with an ability to suggest innovative solutions from streamlining processes to completing a backlog of tasks.
Maintain product and company reputation by complying with applicable regulations and standards.
COMPETENCIES (What qualities will make you successful):
Good understanding of control electronic Products, specifically analog and digital circuits, and power electronics circuits with 8-10 years of experience.
Ability to lead PCB specs release in qualification and in PDM.
Support qualification of electronic components such as IGBTs, Magnetics, Thyristors, AC/DC capacitors, FAN’s, etc.
Knowledge of test equipment, CRO, AC Source, DC Source, Auto transformers, Multimeters, Data loggers.
Ability to design and implement PCB designs that meet electrical, EMC, Safety, mechanical, thermal and DFA/DFM requirements of the System.
Ability to run independent tests, with good knowledge in basic troubleshooting of products.
Ability to generate alternate solutions during feasibility studies during PCB modifications.
Prior experience working with design packages and product Lifecyle Management (PLM) tools is required (more specifically Allegro and Windchill PDM or similar type processes)
Ability to work cross-functionally (i.e. with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Project Management) is strongly desired.
Detail Oriented: Able to accurately follow precise procedures and thoroughly complete assigned tasks by using strong follow-up skills.
EDUCATION & OTHER SKILLS:
4 Year Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
Knowledge of Ladder Logic GE Proficy Software or Modicon Control Expert Software would be ideal
