About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Envelope Machine Adjuster to join our Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, calibrating, and maintaining envelope converting machines to ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards. You will work closely with Machine Operators to maximize production efficiency, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and uphold all company safety and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and adjust converting machines to meet design specifications from job tickets and artwork.
- Monitor machine performance and product quality throughout production runs.
- Mix and dispense ink according to job specifications; maintain ink viscosity for consistent color.
- Mount plates, set impressions, and adjust registration to achieve precise printing results.
- Ensure all machine guards, interlocks, and safety devices are in place and operational.
- Provide direction and job-specific guidance to Machine Operators during setup, changeovers, and production runs.
- Train and mentor Machine Operators and Trainees on machine operation and safety standards.
- Record setup times, downtime, quality checks, and material usage accurately.
- Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on converting equipment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and incoming shifts to maintain smooth operations.
- Collaborate with Sales and Management to discuss machine capabilities, tooling requirements, and production timelines.
- Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in compliance with company safety and housekeeping standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience as a Machine Adjuster or similar mechanical setup role, preferably in envelope manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and ability to adjust, repair, and maintain high-speed automated equipment.
- Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems in an industrial setting a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, job tickets, and measurement tools (English and metric).
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with team members and leadership.
- Physically capable of standing for long periods and performing manual tasks as required.
- Prior experience with W&D, RA, or FL Smithe envelope machines highly preferred.
