Senior Release Train Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Release Train Engineer (RTE) with SAFe® certification to lead and optimize our Agile Release Trains (ARTs). As the servant leader and coach for multiple ARTs, you will ensure that teams, Product Management, System Architects, and business stakeholders are aligned, synchronized, and delivering value effectively. You will play a critical role in scaling Agile practices across the enterprise, fostering continuous improvement, and ensuring seamless program execution.

This position is currently contingent on contract award.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Execution: Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning, ART Syncs, Inspect & Adapt workshops, and other critical SAFe ceremonies.
• Servant Leadership: Act as a coach and guide for Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Agile teams, driving alignment to Agile principles and SAFe practices.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and remove systemic impediments, encourage relentless improvement, and help teams measure outcomes through relevant metrics (e.g., predictability, throughput, quality).
• Stakeholder Alignment: Partner with Product Management, System Architecture, and Business Owners to ensure a steady flow of features and capabilities that deliver strategic value.
• Risk & Dependency Management: Track and manage cross-team dependencies, program-level risks, and issues.
• Reporting & Transparency: Ensure visibility into program execution status for stakeholders through tools, dashboards, and reports.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Certification: SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE) certification.
• Active TS/SCI, CI-poly eligible
• Bachelor’s degree (STEM is Preferred)
• 8 years of experience in Agile software delivery
• 3 years as an RTE, Program Manager, or equivalent leadership role
• Proven experience facilitating large-scale Agile ceremonies and delivering complex, multi-team programs
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of Lean-Agile principles, SAFe framework, and DevSecOps practices
• Leadership Skills: Exceptional servant leadership, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders
• Active TS/SCI, CI-poly eligible
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced SAFe certifications (SPC, SA, LPM).
• Experience working in Defense/Intelligence
• Familiarity with Agile program management tools (e.g., Jira, Rally, VersionOne)
• Experience supporting compliance-driven or mission-critical environments
