What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwright - METTS position at Radial Solutions Inc.?
RSi is looking to fill a Millwright position to support our NASA customer on the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support contract (METTS). The Millwright installs new machines/heavy equipment, and dismantles and installs machines/heavy equipment when changes in the plant layout require.
This position is currently needed for approximately 6 weeks and could change depending on workload from customer. This position may require occasional overtime and may include second or third shift support for 24/7 onsite or on-call support based on customer needs and contract requirements.
Summary of duties include but are not limited to:
- Plan and lay out millwright work based on interpretations of blueprints and specifications.
- Install, dismantle, and relocate machines or heavy equipment.
- Use rigging and hand tools to position and secure equipment safely.
- Perform shop computations for stresses, material strength, and load balance.
- Align and balance machinery to meet operational requirements.
- Select appropriate tools, equipment, and parts for each task.
- Install and maintain power transmission equipment, including drives and reducers.
Required Minimum Education/Experience/Certifications:
- Training and experience in the trade acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/IT Skills/Certifications:
- Ability to communicate with peers, supervisors and customers
- Ability to work independently or in a team
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Work Environment:
- Indoor and outdoor working environments which may include test areas, test stands, laboratories, chambers, machine shops, cold and hot weather environments, heights, and confined spaces.
Other: This position is subject to a pre-employment background check. Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
