High School Band Director/Teacher

Reports To: Principal

Employment Status: Exempt

Salary Range: 11 Month Teacher Salary Schedule with additional stipend

Radford City Schools is seeking a Band Director/Teacher to coordinate and facilitate a high school band program. The Band Director/Teacher will ensure that every student has the opportunity to develop their music knowledge and skills, fostering a lifelong appreciation of music.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct instrumental performers, including concert band, soloists, and ensembles.
• Lead and assist with band participation at extra-curricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, and VBODA activities.
• Instruct at high schools and middle schools as assigned.
• Oversee process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment.
• Accompany and supervise students on out-of-town trips.
• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Virginia teaching license with proper endorsement.
