General Requirements:
- MINIMUM 5 years litigation experience
- Responsible for taking personal injury cases from beginning to end
- Responsible for the organization and theory of the case
- Responsible to ask questions and to brainstorm with others case theories, concerns and strengths.
- Develop and maintain a strong referral network by building relationships with attorneys, medical providers, and community partners
- Actively participle in networking and business development initiatives to grow the firm’s presence and case pipeline
- Work closely with owner and staff
- You must be quick to ask questions about procedure, strategy and all other aspects of the case
- First-chair trial experience a strong plus
Initial Client Meeting:
- Display compassion and understanding of problem
- Be cognizant of the sales skills necessary to close the sale
- Be organized and proficient in determining issues
- Ability to home in on the important issues
Beginning Research:
- Obtain necessary information and analyze it
- Organize initial information
- Especially with the new disclosure requirements, it is necessary that the candidate know what needs to be obtained and to get that ball moving quickly
Demand Letter:
- Excellent writing skills
- Creative and knowledgeable about causes of action and substantive elements of those causes of action
Litigation:
- Know the rules of civil procedure, federal and state, including deadlines, and discovery deadlines of time relative to discovery
- Draft Complaints
- Oversee overall case management
- Review clients’ records
- Close communication with clients, adjusters
- Be able to draft thoughtful and directed RFA’s, interrogatories and requests to produce
- Depositions: Preparation, strategy, skillful and fearless questioning, take expert depositions
- Be familiar with the nuances of a PFS
- Trial: Know the rules of evidence, draft jury instructions and lists/verdict sheets, conduct trial as first chair, beginning to end
Miscellaneous: Knowledge of Word, Excel, Acrobat DC. Plus if you are familiar with NEOS.
Hiring Process:
We will take the time needed to find the right candidate.
- After an initial zoom interview, there will be a further interviews with staff
- The candidate will be asked about the various areas of skill noted above and will need to show some proficiency with rules of civil procedure, PFS, etc.
- The candidate may be given a short fact patterns to find causes of action, theories and will need to write a brief summary
