Description

The Production Supervisor supervises the production employees, troubleshoots machine or material issues, preforms quality inspections, and schedules product runs.

  • Consistent with the objectives, policies and controls of the company this person shall be responsible for a variety of tasks associated with their assigned area of responsibility in the production department.
  • Must have open communication within the department with manager and other supervisors and perform well in a team concept environment. Also, shall have good communication with teammates and subordinates to maintain consistent and efficient production flow.
  • Responsible for the training, supervising, coaching and discipline of production employees. Should also strive to maintain positive employee morale.
  • Responsible for scheduling and maintaining production flow, including coordination of workflow with 2nd shift personnel and supervisors.
  • Must be able to perform minor maintenance duties and/or assist with maintenance supervisor when needed.
  • Must be able to handle emergency situations throughout the plant and office.
  • Must keep proper and accurate records of production, employee absenteeism, discipline, etc. as well as monitor and track inventory levels on a regular basis.
  • Must understand the operation of all machines/workstations including all safety aspects of the workstations and plant safety policies.
  • Responsible for the product quality of all workstations in area to maintain and reduce rejects and rework of products.
  • Work toward continuous quality improvement.
  • Stay current with changing technology, including software and production programs.
  • Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
