Role Description Before and After School Team Members provide a safe, engaging, and structured environment for school-age children in YMCA programs. In this full-time, on-site role located in Kenosha, WI, team members supervise children before and after school, lead age-appropriate activities, and support social, emotional, and academic growth. Daily tasks include facilitating games, crafts, and enrichment activities; monitoring transitions such as arrival and departure; and ensuring consistent adherence to safety and behavior guidelines. Team members communicate regularly with parents and guardians, collaborate with coworkers to plan and implement program schedules, and maintain accurate attendance and incident records. The role also involves setting up and cleaning program spaces and modeling positive, respectful behavior at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or youth in group settings, such as camps, classrooms, or recreational programs.
- Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate activities that promote learning, social skills, and physical well-being.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with children, families, coworkers, and school partners.
- Commitment to providing a safe, inclusive environment and following all safety, childcare, and YMCA policies.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time, routines, and multiple tasks in a busy program setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or credentials in education, child development, or related fields are beneficial.
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet state and YMCA childcare licensing requirements.
