Key Responsibilities
- Properly maintain clean and sanitary conditions at the YDCC.
- Perform custodial duties throughout the facility, including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing hallways, stairs, offices, break rooms, garage areas and restrooms; cleaning, stripping, waxing, and buffing floors; shampooing carpets; emptying recycling and garbage containers, filling paper and soap dispensers, and changing light bulbs.
- Perform general cleaning in office areas including dusting, vacuuming, emptying baskets, washing wood and painted walls, furniture, ceiling vents, cubicles, blinds and windows.
- Perform grounds maintenance duties including cleaning snow/ice and debris from sidewalks, parking lots and interior courtyards; cleaning outside entryways and overhangs of garbage and debris; mowing lawn, trimming shrubbery, and cultivating flowers.
- Replenish cleaning supplies on a daily basis such as towels, soaps, and toilet paper in restrooms throughout the Care Center.
- Complete an inventory of storeroom supplies monthly.
- Perform special cleaning assignments on a weekly basis such as washing and cleaning windows and shower areas in the living units.
- In emergency situations, clean spills, including disinfecting and sterilizing where required.
- Read all labels on chemicals throughout the Care Center and determine appropriate cleaning chemical use according to state law, prior to mixing and using, to avoid hazardous health conditions.
- Maintain the physical needs of the facility daily to insure a safe, efficiently operating, and attractive environment.
- Perform other related duties as directed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience in custodial work preferred.
- Prompt and regular attendance.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Able to perform indoor and outdoor duties while standing and walking.
- Able to perform duties while bending, stooping, pushing and pulling.
- Able to lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
