Raba Kistner is seeking a dependable Field Safety Coordinator to join our Health and Safetyteam in Sulphur, LA. This individual is responsible for the application of Raba Kistner, Inc. Enterprise Wide Health and Safety Program which includes RSO (Radiation Safety Officer) responsibilities, planning, developing, and coordinating compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, laws, codes, and rules in order to preserve human health and environmental integrity for corporate, regional, and project site offices. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb (climb and descend trailers, trucks while carrying instruments and tools), balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, stop, and talk. Must have the ability to perform duties in Level A personal protection clothing as required. Must also be able to lift and carry (less than 50 lbs.) of tools and/or equipment. You will frequently be required to use hands and reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision (including shades of colors), peripheral vision, focus vision, and depth vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
The work environment is in a normal office and also outdoors, being subjected to varying weather conditions. This may include work over water, off barges. This position has potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, as well as hazardous and dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work may require out-of-town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.

Others responsibilities include:
- Coordinate with supervision on project safety implementation at all levels of the job site.
- Complete regular safety assessments, and recommend improvement strategies, additional company policies and programs that improve Raba Kistner’s safety efforts.
- Communicate frequently and effectively with the Corporate Safety Manager on all safety issues.
- Provide direction and mentorship to less experienced staff.
- Participate in project required safety committees.
- Thoroughly investigate incidents and provide assistance in completing reports and forms.
- Provide site specific training and safety orientations.
- Identify safety situations that require immediate action and remove employees when needed.
- Interact with general contractors, owners, other trades, and clients appropriately.
- Train personnel and assist with the completion of Job Hazard Analysis.
- As the RSO, you will be required to: review multiple state and federal laws and Raba Kistner’s procedures to ensure the compliance, safety, and efficiency of the RK Radiation Safety Program; prepare documentation for submittal for license renewals, license amendments, and adding of new locations; perform and/or review investigations of overexposures, accidents, losses, thefts, unauthorized receipts, misuses, or other deviations from approved radiation safety practice and implement corrective actions when necessary; respond to safety emergencies and formally report; perform audits and recommend improvements; consolidate, digitize, improve, and advance overall program; establish and track KPIs.
- Understand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS Programs, setting a good example of our safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma required.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in health & safety, and prior experience in the AEC industry is a must.
- Possess valid Texas driver’s license and meet company’s auto insurability requirements.
