About the Role:
Synolo Therapeutics is seeking an innovative, self-motivated, and team-oriented Associate Scientist/ Scientist in Protein Science, with a passion for discovering and developing novel medicines and who thrives working in a fast-paced startup team. In this role, you will contribute to the expression, purification and characterization of antibody drug leads and protein reagents. In addition, you will support our cross-functional teams with your profound knowledge of Protein Science and be a key contributor to our drug discovery and development programs. As a member of a rapidly growing and very engaged team, you will help us in our mission to develop novel therapeutics to improve patients’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Key contributor to the maintenance and growth of in-house capabilities of protein expression in mammalian cells (eg. CHO) and of protein purification to support research activities, project goals and platform development.
  • Design and carry out experiments to express multi-specific biologics
  • Characterize the purified leads biochemically and biophysically
  • Study protein solubility and stability with various biophysical techniques
  • Analyze and communicate experimental results verbally and in writing
Qualifications & Skills:
  • BA/MA or PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering or a related field. Level commensurate with experience.
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and expression and purification of recombinant antibodies and/or other classes of proteins
  • Hands-on experience in protein purification using FPLC systems and familiarity with several types of chromatography (Protein A/G affinity, IMAP, ion exchange, SEC, HIC)
  • Hands-on experience with current molecular biology and cell biology techniques, including mammalian cell culture and transfection, Western blot, SDS-PAGE, ELISA etc
  • Hands-on experience with characterization of antibody on HPLC, such as reverse phase, SEC, AEX, and/or CEX)
  • Hands-on experience in determining binding kinetics and affinity between antigen and antibody (SPR, BLI, or monolith)
  • Hands-on experience in characterization of antibody, such as DSF, DLS, and/or sec-MALS
  • Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and ability to multi task, with good follow through on action items
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills
Preferred Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with expressing, purifying and characterizing bi-specific or multi-specific biologics a strong plus
  • Hands-on experience in making expression constructs
