Warner Mechanical is seeking skilled Welders/Fabricators to join our growing fabrication shop team in Frederick, MD. This role focuses on structural steel and hydronic pipe welding. We are looking for dependable professionals who take pride in their craftmanship, safety, and teamwork.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $30 - $50 per hour (Pay will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and skill level)
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate and weld structural steel components, including frameworks, supports, platforms, and equipment bases using MIG, TIG, and/or Stick (SMAW) processes.
- Perform high-quality pipe welding and fabrication for hydronic systems (not required but a plus; experience with ASME B31.1 or B31.3 specifications preferred).
- Demonstrate basic understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints, isometric drawings, welding symbols, and specifications to ensure accurate layout, fit-up, and assembly (not required but a plus).
- Cut, bevel, fit, and assemble pipe and structural members using torches, grinders, and other fabrication tools.
- Conduct visual inspections and basic non-destructive testing to meet AWS, ASME, and project quality standards.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and a clean, safe work environment in shop settings.
- Strictly follow all shop safety policies and procedures, properly use PPE, and maintain good housekeeping.
- Work collaboratively with pipefitters, mechanics, foremen, and the production team to meet production deadlines and quality requirements.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in structural welding (required); pipe welding experience, particularly with hydronic or mechanical piping systems, is strongly preferred but not required.
- Proficient in multiple welding positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys.
- Valid welding certifications preferred:
- AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code
- ASME Section IX or B31.1 / B31.3
- Machine/Turner Weld certification
- Ability to pass company-administered weld tests.
- Basic blueprint reading and layout skills (a plus).
- Reliable transportation and willingness to work in a shop environment.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in varying shop temperatures.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and OSHA standards (OSHA 10 or 30 a plus).
