Job Summary:
The Commercial Construction Superintendent oversees all field operations on commercial construction projects. This role ensures that projects are executed according to plans, specifications, schedules, and safety standards while coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage daily on-site construction activities for commercial projects (e.g., office buildings, retail centers, industrial facilities)
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field staff
- Enforce compliance with project plans, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations (e.g., Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards)
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of milestones
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety
- Resolve on-site issues, conflicts, and delays proactively
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients
- Maintain daily logs, reports, and documentation of site activities
- Ensure proper use of materials, equipment, and labor resources
- Lead site meetings and communicate project updates to stakeholders
- High school diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- 7–10 years of experience in commercial construction, with supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors and trades
- Proficient with Microsoft Word & Excel
- Familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)
