Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide patient care and support for individuals with varying needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer’s, dementia, or autism.
- Prepare meals and assist with meal planning while considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space by performing household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and light housekeeping.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall health status, reporting any changes to appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure adherence to care plans.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive stimulation.
- Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations while providing care.
Skills
- First aid and CPR certification is preferred to ensure safety during caregiving tasks.
- Experience in home health, hospice care, assisted living, or long-term care settings is highly valued.
- Strong patient observation skills to recognize changes in clients' conditions promptly.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility or transfers.
- Knowledge of care plans and medication administration protocols is essential for effective client support.
