What are the responsibilities and job description for the HVAC Technician position at R/S ELECTRIC CORP?
We are looking for a hard-working, dedicated HVAC Technician to join our growing staff. The individual in this role will be responsible for installing, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing our customers’ HVAC systems. Candidates should have extensive experience handling, installing, and repairing HVAC equipment, and be comfortable working with little to no supervision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Travel to business locations on a daily basis as scheduled.
● Perform consultations with customers.
● Determine customer needs and discuss all solution methods.
● Install new heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
● Inspect current HVAC systems for effectiveness and safety.
● Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to increase longevity.
● Conduct performance tests with specialized tools.
● Troubleshoot current HVAC system issues.
● Repair damaged HVAC systems.
● Keep records of customer appointments, hours worked and details of services performed.
● Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment and HVAC resources.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of commercial, residential, and industrial HVAC/refrigeration experience required.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and installing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial, industrial, and residential environments.
- Strong understanding of HVAC controls, electrical systems, mechanical components, and refrigeration principles.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, along with the ability to drive to job sites.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining a strong safety focus.
- Previous on-the-job training a plus.
- Strong verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex HVAC issues with customers in a way that’s easy to understand.
- Skilled at critical thinking and problem solving
- Must be punctual and adhere to a daily schedule with multiple appointments in different locations.
- Ability to work after hours as needed - over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
Certifications
- EPA Universal Certification (Required).
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
- Additional HVAC, refrigeration, or manufacturer certifications are a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with industrial refrigeration systems, process cooling equipment, chillers, RTUs, split systems, boilers, and related HVAC equipment.
- Experience servicing equipment in manufacturing, industrial, commercial, healthcare, and data center environments.
Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and are required to consent to a background check.
