What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Fiber Drop Technician position at R. Roese Contracting Company?
We are seeking a skilled Underground Fiber Drop Technician to work within our burial operations system. This is a specialized role focusing 100% on underground installations using the Vermeer vibratory plow. You will be responsible for the "final link" of fiber installation, ensuring high-quality placement and excellent yard restoration.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour (Starting) Type: Full-time, Underground Only
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation: Safely and efficiently operate a Vermeer vibratory plow to install fiber drops at a consistent depth (12"-18").
- Utility Safety: Strictly follow 811 locate marks to identify and avoid existing underground utilities (gas, electric, water).
- Drop Installation: Hand-dig in restricted areas
- Restoration: Perform high-quality yard restoration, including backfilling, tamping, and reseeding to ensure no visible "plow scars".
- Maintenance: Perform daily greasing and fluid checks on the equipment to ensure zero downtime
Qualifications:
- Specific Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience operating a Vermeer vibratory plow or similar articulated vibratory plow.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of residential utility layouts and the ability to read construction drawings.
- Physical Ability: Must be comfortable walking behind/beside the machine all day and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Clean Record: Valid Driver's License is required to transport equipment to various job sites.
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
