Health, Safety, and Environment Specialist

Our 29,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility allows us to perform industrial repairs of almost any scale, while providing the capacity to ensure quick turnarounds. Our facility has multiple machine shops, a dedicated pump shop, a weld shop, and a compressor rebuild shop – to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager. This role will drive workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship across our machine, weld, pump, and rebuild shops.

Position Overview

Lead and enhance HSE strategies specifically for machine shop environment focusing on repair, overhaul, and reconditioning of pumps, reciprocating compressors, and other rotating/reciprocating equipment. This role prioritizes operational safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship in a fast-paced, mission critical repair facility that serves energy, power generation, and mining sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continually enhance HSE policies, procedures, and training programs relevant to machining, welding, pump/compressor repair, and field service operations.
• Ensure strict compliance with OSHA regulations (including relevant 29 CFR 1910 standards), UOSH standards, and any applicable EPA or industry specific regulations.
• Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits across shop floor, weld, pump, and rebuild areas.
• Lead thorough incident investigations and root cause analysis and drive corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide specialized training: machine guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, PPE, chemical handling, and emergency response tailored to rotating equipment repair and field service environment.
• Manage and maintain documentation; safety data sheets (SDS), incident logs, audit reports, environmental compliance records.
• Oversee emergency preparedness, including drills, response planning, and coordination with local first responders.
• Partner with operations, engineering, and reliability teams to ensure safe integration of custom parts fabrication, robotic measurement systems, and precision alignment/vibration equipment in work processes.
• Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics (e.g. incident rates, near misses, audit results); recommend improvements to reduce risk and enhance safety culture.
• Serve as liaison with regulators, maintain readiness for inspections, and support licensing/certification efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 7–10 years of HSE experience, with at least 3 years in manufacturing, machine shop, or heavy industrial repair environments.
• In-depth knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards and UOSH regulations, with ability to apply them practically in a repair shop setting.
• Strong track record in incident investigation, risk assessment, safety management systems, and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated experience working with rotating and reciprocating equipment, pumps, compressors, machining/welding operations.
• Excellent communication, training, and leadership skills, able to influence at all levels to sustain a proactive safety culture.

Required Certifications

• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification (required).
• First Aid / CPR / AED Certification (required).
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) (preferred).
• HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response) (preferred).
• Experience or training in ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and/or ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) systems (preferred).

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
