Responsibilities
- Operate dump trucks, tractor-trailers, roll-off trucks, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, and tankers with skillful control using manual transmission systems.
- Safely load and unload freight, hazardous materials, or dangerous goods in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Navigate routes efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules while maintaining safety protocols.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure compliance with safety standards and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Load cargo securely using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment when necessary; ensure proper weight distribution for safe transport.
- Follow all logistics cargo handling procedures, including the transportation of hazardous or sensitive materials in accordance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and incident reports as required by FMCSA regulations.
- Load & unload freight at various sites, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to safety guidelines throughout the process.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving with a focus on freight delivery.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for dump trucks, tractor-trailers, or hazardous materials preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling procedures.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time navigation adjustments.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely; familiarity with forklift operation is a plus.
- Strong understanding of truck driving safety protocols and logistics cargo handling procedures.
