Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers across OTR routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Navigate using GPS systems to optimize delivery routes efficiently while maintaining compliance with all traffic laws.
- Transport various types of freight, including refrigerated goods, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, and other specialized cargo such as flatbed or tanker loads.
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport according to logistics cargo handling standards.
- Deliver freight accurately and on time to multiple destinations while providing excellent customer service during drop-offs and pickups.
- Maintain detailed logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, and delivery records in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to ensure vehicle safety and proper functioning before each trip.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including delivery driving and route driving over long distances.
- Valid CDL A license with clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmission preferred.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and hazardous materials regulations is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking.
- Experience loading/unloading freight manually while following safety protocols for truck loading and unloading procedures.
- Understanding of DOT regulations related to driver hours-of-service (HOS), hazardous materials handling, and safety compliance.
- Prior experience working within logistics cargo handling environments or transporting automobile transportation is a plus.
