What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Steel Estimator (Experienced Only) position at R&R Fabrication?
R&R Fabrication is hiring an experienced Structural Steel Estimator with strong knowledge of structural and miscellaneous steel. This role requires someone who understands pricing, takeoffs, and how to win work.
This is a hands-on role. You will be involved in estimating, client relationships, and business development.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Perform accurate material takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Use Tekla(or similar products) for estimating and coordination
- Review bid documents and develop pricing strategies
- Identify and pursue new opportunities outside of bid platforms
- Build relationships with general contractors, construction managers, developers, and engineers
- Attend meetings, lunches, and industry events to represent the company
- Coordinate with fabrication and project teams to ensure accuracy and constructability
Requirements
- 2-3 years structural steel estimating experience is required
- 2-3 years miscellaneous steel estimating experience is required
- Experience estimating steel erection is required
- Proficiency with Tekla (required)
- Strong blueprint reading and takeoff skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
