We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Technical Design Assistant to join our team and support the technical design process from concept through production.
Position Overview
The Technical Design Assistant will work closely with the Technical Designer, supporting fittings, sample tracking, spec work, and vendor communication. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about fashion design who wants to grow their career in technical development and production within the special dress market.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and updating tech packs, including garment construction details, specifications, and fit notes.
- Use Browzwear and CLO3D to support 3D garment development, visualization, and virtual fittings.
- Measure garments and compare against spec sheets to ensure accuracy.
- Organize, log, and track incoming and outgoing samples.
- Support fittings by preparing garments, recording fit comments, and updating documentation.
- Communicate sample comments and approvals to vendors under the direction of the Technical Designer.
- Help organize and approve fabrics, trims, and lab dips.
- Assist with quality checks on pre-production and production samples.
- Maintain organized files of patterns, tech packs, and sample archives.
- Collaborate with design, product development, and production teams to ensure on-time and accurate garment execution.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Technical Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and fit.
- Experience with Browzwear (VStitcher, Lotta, etc.) and CLO3D is required.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining tech packs.
- Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and PLM/PDM systems (preferred).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for social dress, eveningwear, and special occasion design is a plus.
