Job Overview: A material handler is an individual responsible for the efficient and organized movement of materials within a warehouse or distribution center. Their primary role involves loading and unloading shipments, sorting, and organizing inventory, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Material handlers use various equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely and quickly. They play a crucial role in maintaining inventory accuracy, fulfilling orders, and supporting the overall logistics and supply chain operations of a business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle in-plant materials
- Wrapping and banding freight
- Pick up and deliver raw materials, work in process inventory, and packaging supplies, as needed, to and from the presses and shipping areas
- Successfully complete forklift certification program
- Label and prepare packages for shipment
- Additional related duties as required
Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills
- Effective communication skills: fluent English reading, writing, speaking
- Experience working in shipping/receiving/warehouse
- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Ensure FIFO is followed for all transactions
- Able to continuously stand, walk, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
