Job Overview: A Brake Press Lead oversees the operation and efficiency of brake press machines. They are responsible for leading a team of operators, ensuring that metal parts are accurately shaped and bent according to specifications. This role involves setting up and adjusting the brake press, monitoring the production process, and ensuring that safety and quality standards are met. The Brake Press Lead also provides training, troubleshooting support, and collaborates with other departments to optimize production schedules and meet manufacturing goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup and operate machines to bend or straighten metal material
- Set stops on machine beds, change dies, and adjust components, such as rams or power presses, when making multiple or successive passes
- Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, or rulers
- Read work orders or blueprints to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances
- Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures, or assign employee training to experienced workers
- Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
- Perform other tasks as assigned and required.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience with brake press machines, leadership role preferred
- Follow all required safety regulations
- Maintain a clean and safe 5S work environment.
- Perform physical actions which may include frequent bending, twisting, reaching, walking, consistent standing, and the ability to lift/carry and push/pull objects
