Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough eye examinations to assess vision and detect eye diseases.
- Diagnose and treat various ocular conditions, including prescribing corrective lenses.
- Provide pediatric eye care services, ensuring a comfortable experience for young patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records using EMR and EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and the importance of regular check-ups.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Manage medical terminology and coding for insurance purposes effectively.
- Monitor vital signs as part of the initial assessment during patient visits.
- Implement aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to maintain a safe environment.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of ophthalmology and optical practices.
- Experience in pediatrics is highly desirable.
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on customer service.
- Proficient in medical terminology, medical records management, and coding practices.
- Solid understanding of anatomy and physiology related to the visual system.
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems for efficient record keeping.
