Job Summary:
The Insurance Adjuster Apprentice supports the review and management of equine and livestock claims. In this role, you will communicate with insured parties and industry professionals, gather documentation, investigate claims, and help assess coverage and policy limits. You will prepare clear reports on animal diagnoses, treatment recommendations, condition, claim status, and payment recommendations. Strong organization, attention to detail, and professional communication are essential for monitoring claims through resolution while managing changing priorities and sensitive situations.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with insured parties, veterinarians, brokers, agents, and other relevant parties to establish claims and determine coverage and applicable policy limits.
- Obtain supporting documentation and investigate assigned claims.
- Prepare reports detailing diagnoses, treatment recommendations, animal status, and payment recommendations.
- Maintain claim diaries, monitor progress, and provide updates until claims are closed.
- Maintain accountability for all assigned claims.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented and thorough, with the flexibility to prioritize and respond to unexpected situations.
- Ability to work independently while following management direction.
- Professional demeanor and ability to perform effectively in stressful situations.
- Basic understanding of the equine industry and livestock.
- Reliable transportation.
- At least two years of professional work experience.
- Property and Casualty Adjuster licensing, Veterinary Technician or Assistant certification, or insurance experience is preferred.
