What are the responsibilities and job description for the Railcar Repair Member - Charlestown, IN position at R.J. Corman Railroad Group?
R. J. Corman is currently seeking a Railcar Repair Team Member in Charlestown, IN. Candidates must be able work outdoors all year round. Schedule M-F with opportunity for overtime and possible weekend work. Candidate’s should possess strong mechanical aptitude and have the ability to work independently from time to time. They should be familiar with basic hand tools and have the ability to operate heavy equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Welding, cutting, and mechanical type repairs
- Forklift operator
- Understanding of documenting work performed and recording material usage
- Ensure that paperwork for railcar repairs is complete and correct
- Ensure that repair jobs are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure that vehicles and shops kept clean and safe
- Ensure that the employees are working in a safe manner
- Assist with inspection and repairs as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Education and Experience: Railcar mechanical experience preferred, must have a background in welding and cutting. Must have good communication and people skills with demonstrated ability to develop team work and work with all levels of personnel in achieving our goals.
Physical Requirements: Be able to lift 50 pounds in the performance of duties, and ability to use computer, telephone and mobile radio.
Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to weather elements and appropriate PPE required for job site visits.
